I am, once again, in the ranks of the freelance corps. My time at Blind Squirrel Games came to an end this week. I thoroughly enjoyed my work with the art team there. Great, wonderful artists, truly inspiring me to be a better leader in service to others.
I've been taught the ways of the servant leader by those who have led and mentored me in my own journey. It's interesting to be in a position to give back what I have so generously been given.
Looking ahead to 2017 I will carefully consider teaching - how, when and where. I did take on a Motion Graphics course at MSJC last Fall, teaching on a Friday evening. But found myself exhausted at the end of a week of long hours and daily commutes to Santa Ana. I didn't feel like I was at the top of my form in that class.
Recently, a mentor of mine advised me to "simplify and intensify" my life and work. As I look to 2017 and my current job situation, I will follow his advice and look for ways to simplify my life by being very careful to make sure I can fully and energetically perform any teaching assignment I take on.
With the recent events in mind, I also have in mind to write "How to be laid off - the Art and Science of Surviving and Thriving in a Reduction in Force!"
2017 is shaping up to be quite awesome indeed.
